Take a look at your latest grocery receipt. How much do your meat purchases add up to? Twenty percent? Thirty? If you are feeding a typical family, your meat expenses are hefty. Going meatless a few nights a week can save you significant sums of money at the grocery store.

When you’re dressing your taco, you might be adding hundreds of unneeded calories to the meal. My best advice is to stay away from cheese. And, if you can’t stay away from the cheese, at least choose a low fat shredded cheese made with skim milk and use only a pinch of it sprinkled over your meat. This way the flavor is spread out, and you’re using about an ounce of cheese compared to two or three ounces. Sour cream is in the same boat: using low fat sour cream will significantly lower the number of calories sitting on top of your shell.

Food eaten late at night is no more fattening than the rest of the unhealthy food eaten during the rest of the day. It is not true that the body will store more fat during evenings because it is at rest. What makes a person obese is not about the time he or she eats, but the overall amount of calories consumed in a day.

Cabbage rolls are a very common food in many European countries, and are delicious. Usually, taco recipes is used, sometimes with added pork or even sausage, and combined with raw rice and seasonings of choice. This mixture is rolled into large cabbage leaves and cooked in a tomato based sauce. Cabbage can be used as a sturdier wrap, replacing lettuce for some heartier fillings. Partially cooked cabbage leaves still retain much strength and could also be used this way. Try making spring rolls using cabbage leaves.

Meat and poultry that has been thawed and defrosted in the refrigerator can be frozen again either before or after cooking. If you thaw outside of the refrigerator, you must cook the meat or poultry before you can refreeze it.

The food has changed, but the concept remains the same. New Yorkers are busy people and no one has time to sit down in a restaurant and eat lunch. New York food trucks have, and always will, cater to the lunch crowd. Instead of settling for a hotdog or chicken and rice, you can enjoy gourmet meals -everything from waffles to dumplings to tacos cerdo. And, it is all high quality food; hence the long lines wrapped around the block. There are plenty of great trucks to try, but let us discuss some trucks you cannot pass up.

Let me reminisce a minute and with that reminiscing share some favorite traditional British cuisine. I do have to acknowledge, however, that the Brit’s cuisine, especially the English dishes, hasn’t always had the greatest reputation. Still, they have some of the finest restaurants in the world and with the added diversity in the population, and an increased experimentation with new dishes, the culture has created new culinary styles — curry recipes being one of the most popular trends right now.
