Is Your Career Like My Bathroom Light Fixture

You’ve probably heard the story that the cost to turn on a light bulb is greater than the cost to run it. Thank goodness for the Mythbusters. That myth has been busted, but it does provide a good window into what sometimes happens when you are working to improve your life.

Make that 5 miles. Good marketing copy addresses a need, but great marketing copy goes the extra 4 miles to prove you understand their situation, you’ve been there too and you know exactly how to help. You know your business better than anyone so it isn’t too far of a leap to guess when and why your customers buy from you. Sometimes, marketers are on the selling side for so long that they forget why customers buy.

The first feature of the Macbook is that it doesn’t have any mercury or arsenic content. You would normally find these in the screens of the computers. Both of these chemicals can harm the environment, so it seems Apple have put thought into what they were going to do with this Macbook.

Let’s compare two cases. In case number one, you’re rolling a large ball along the ground. In case number two you are starting up a The ball shows momentum because it keeps going, where as the light stops pretty much instantly. This is the state we want, but let’s focus on the analogy for now.

I knew that it would be a struggle for me to help him with his marketing, since I didn’t believe he was especially talented in his chosen field.

During this time, the tapes in my head kept playing and telling me that I was nuts for passing up business. However, I resolutely hung on, trying with all my heart to believe that adhering to this concept was going to work for me. It was about a year or so into my business before I discovered first-hand how well this principle does work.

For law-abiding, hard-working people, one of the biggest arenas for failure is in weight loss or fitness. We all know of the too common phenomenon of starting out on January first only to quit again by March fifteenth. We have all done it before, and we hate ourselves because of it.

So remember, people who overcome adversity and succeed are those who refuse to give up. When you refuse to give up, when you refuse to take no for an answer you cannot help but succeed. Keep your dreams in front of you and persevere. Be persistent in your pursuit of your goals and you too will be one of those that have used your positive mental attitude to learn from your mistakes and overcome the adversity that comes to us all.
